I see Dave's point about the music and the lyrics. It is a fabulous album. Rick however has something wrong with him if he can't find listening pleasure in the other albums. He must not be a very big Floyd fan. It's different if you've actually worked on an album, I suppose... perhaps it brought back memories that he would rather not remember, or something. Anyway Rick was a jazz guy, am I Wright? so that was probably what he would listen to in his spare time.

Animals is great, although sometimes I get lost in the synth runs. Same with the song Welcome To The Machine. I still love it though.

I've said it before but... Relics. I mean, Julia Dream ( ), Cirrus Minor, Arnold Layne, See Emily Play, Remember A Day, The Nile Song, etc... I love every single song, EVERY ONE. IT'S JUST SO GREAT.

In theory, Wish You Were Here is and will always be my favourite. As an experience, it is unparalleled. It's pretty much the most powerful, cohesive, moving, conceptually and musically solid album I've ever heard, and I adore every note with my soul. ❤
In practise, however...
*braces for shower of rotten tomatoes*
...Atom Heart Mother is frequently my favourite. It's so pastoral and Englishy that if it were any more so, the CD would smell like cows and wet grass. Lying supine in the sunshine, let the grass grow on your brain, with AHM as your soundtrack -- my recipe for a perfect 50 minutes. I love it so much I've even learnt to love that awful directionless waste of space on the first side!
Meanwhile, The Dark Side Of The Moon, Meddle, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, and Animals are all just smegging brilliant.

I'm so relieved that there's another one who loves AHM so much! Everytime, the brass begins to play at the beginning of the Atom Heart Mother suite, a pleasant chill runs down my spine because I know that there are awesome 50 minutes ahead. Actually, I wasn't even aware of the fact that the suite gets generally little love among Floyd fans, I found it so great from the very beginning with the medieval feel it has about it - but I refuse to imagine cows or milking, that so off sync with my imaginations that I better leave it. And I really love how the final chord is an E-Major just like the very famous final chord of another musical milestone... ('I read the news today oh boy,...', you know what I mean. ) But that's not the only masterpiece on AHM: If is nice, Summer '68 is great, and Fat Old Sun is gorgeous! (the latter is quite obvious from my username, eh? ). But I don't think AHM is my favourite Pink Floyd album, I can't decide between, The Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Meddle, and The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn at the moment. It's so hard because every album has something unique I really love about it, for example, Piper: Listening to it is like walking through an enchanted forest and behind every tree there hide magical creatures and characters from fairy tales, I just can't get enough of it! But Meddle has One Of These Days and Fearless and San Tropez and... ECHOES!!! And DSOTM or WYWH... Well, Wish You Were Here (song) makes me tear up every time, because it's so touching, 'nuff said. At this very moment, it's probably Wish You Were Here followed by Piper followed by DSOTM followed by Meddle and I bet that it's already different tomorrow.
