Or if you're like me and can't pick just one, then what do you like about each member?
Syd: his light was brief, but he shone like the sun. What a unique personality comes through in those daft little songs about bicycles and thieves of ladies' undergarments. When he says, 'You're the kind of girl who fits in with my world', you know he's got a special world.
Roger: he's a nutter. In a good way. (Not like Syd, but like... well... Roger.) Actually there are no adjectives to describe his unique combination of arrogance, introspection, and theatricality. And his instinct for musical structure is god-status. Probably the most complicated human being of them (unless they're all just gods, which would make perfect sense to me).
Dave: my favourite living guitarist whose singing is... overlooked (because no one listens past The Black Strat, and who can blame them?) He's sort of an ordinary guy until he picks up a guitar, and even then he isn't a huge showman-- but the guitar is pouring out his soul, man.
Rick: he reminds me of George Harrison so he's good in my book. And good-looking too (one word: eyelashes). Seriously though, his keyboards are what make the Floyd the Floyd; he sits off in the back, not saying much-- and magically pulls it all together. And that third voice he and Dave create when they sing together is out of this world.
Nick: No other drummer can get me air drumming like Nick Mason. I swear. Not even (pain me though it does to admit it) Ringo Starr, though that may be more due to better recording than anything. Ringo drums in present tense, very spontaneously-- Nick's drums are always looking a fill or two into the future. Like the others, his sense of timing-- not time, but timing-- is unsurpassed.
This is why I can't pick just one. Perhaps, in time, I shall be able to narrow it down. How about you?

I can only speak about their personalities and their looks because at all musicianship thing related I know nothing.
If I have to choose one, my favourite is Rick, though I love them all almost equally.
I love Rick, mainly because I've always found him the cutest. I think he's quite underrated, and I can't deny that he reminds me of George Harrison too, even Nick compared them:
Dave, I find him the hottest, except after the 80s. His voice is my favourite out of the four of them, and I really love it when he sings with Rick. If there's one thing I know about music, is that the Comfortably Numb solos are a-maz-ing.
Syd, even though he was with the band for a short time, I think what he did was great and I love his silly lyrics and the whole psychedelic vibe that PF had while he was with them. His solo career I think is quite fantastic, it has that early PF sound to it.
Nick, I don't have much to say about him really, but he's a nice person and I like his moustache (?
Roger, I must admit sometimes he comes off as a little arrogant, I mean, he was, but I like him, there's just something about the guy that makes me unable to hate his personality.

I may not be able to pick a favourite, but according to this quiz, I'm Syd Barrett. What about you all?

I wasn't really sure about one question so the first option gave me Dave Gilmour and the second option gave me Syd Barrett. Edit: Third time gave me Rick Wright... As Silly Girl said, I must have multiple personalities

I confess there are times when I suspect Roger is my favourite Floyd. Yes, he's an arrogant, self-serving git, but there's something fascinating about him despite all that. There's his songwriting, for one thing-- after he sort of figured it out ('Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk' wasn't the greatest) he was brilliant, as everyone knows. And he's an underrated vocalist, in my opinion: he may not the greatest singer, his voice isn't particularly pretty or anything, but the things he does with it-- his performances-- are incredible. I mean, just listen to 'Hey You', or actually, any of his sangs on The Wall. And besides-- four and a half octaves, man Syd is my second favourite, Dave and Rick third, Nick fourth (sorry Nick).

And now it's Rick. It'll probably go back to being Roger soon, but right now it's Rick because he was so lovely in my dream this morning and we never found him and BWAAAAH *bawls eyes out*

I'm not really sure for me, but right now I think I've narrowed it down to either Nick or Roger. After all, the latter did come up with my so-far favourite Floyd album. I may not be able to pick a favourite, but according to this quiz, I'm Syd Barrett. What about you all? I'm Roger, but some of the questions I couldn't choose a satisfactory answer for, so there's that.

I'm generally a Roger fangirl-- I love Roger mostly because he's nuts, and not in a Syd way either-- but I also love the other three four so much that I usually end up fangirling over all of them, at some point of another. I almost had a nervous breakdown the other night, listening to Nick's drum fills in 'Money' (the 4/4 part, during the guitar solo)-- he was being that awesome. And it happens that I have a huge soft spot for Rick, because I seem to like the Floyd best when he contributed a great deal ( The Wall is, in my humble opinion, not Ricky enough). Plus he's adorable got a nice voice. And what guitar-playing Floyd fan wouldn't worship Dave (who, by the way, also has a beautiful voice)? And I really do believe Syd is a genius.

Annnd I haven't ventured too much into Floyd yet, so there's that too. (who, by the way, also has a beautiful voice)? I agree wholeheartedly! I especially love his vocals on Mother and Goodbye Blue Sky. And I really do believe Syd is a genius. Yeah! Even Jimmy Page said something about how great Syd is!

Haven't looked at this thread in ages. I've finally got my #1 down to Rick, if only because I have a double-album-sized soft spot for him that surpasses my considerable appreciation for the others. Every time I try to pick a second favourite member, I end up naming the other four.

Heck, I couldn't even name all them, let alone pick a favourite. The one in my avatar, yeah, that one, whichever one he is.

^I fancy you already know that Waters fellow's middle name... Richard William Wright, Nicholas Berkeley Mason, George Roger Waters, Roger Keith Barrett

(^^ Oh my gosh, I forgot about Nick's middle name... 'Berkeley', cringe.)
First of all, I apologise to the universe for being such a flake in this thread. They're all so great!
Now then. I think I've been loving the Floyd for just about long enough to pick a single favourite member and it is... DAVID GILMOUR! I'm not (that) proud of it. It's so obvious -- I'm a guitarist who loves the (for Pink Floyd) fairly well-known David Gilmour, gimme a break -- but it is so, and has been for long enough for me to post it here.
However, I do still have a mile-wide soft spot for Rick. And Nick. And who could ignore the Twin Rogers Of Greatness? So, yeah...
And as usual, they are far greater than the sum of their parts, and all of their parts are incredible.

I may not be able to pick a favourite, but according to this quiz, I'm Syd Barrett. What about you all? I also got Syd! Yay! He's also my favourite Floyd, closely followed by David Gilmour. It's hard to compare all the members in general and Syd in particular due to his short time in the band but the magic he has created and all the inspiration he gave to his fellow band members is what fascinates me beyond limits. And I also have a weak spot for everything that is weird (I mean weird in a loving way), I'm just drawn to it, I can't help it - and Piper is, without doubt, the weirdest album I've ever listened to, so naturally I love Syd! But at the end of the day (come one, all together now): I love'em all!
