Ran across the song 'This Heaven' and I like it very much. It's a bluesy, content, swingy little tune with that excellent Gilmouring. He said somewhere that it's hard to write happy songs, and so far, in my limited experience, I agree; so I'm pleased that he managed one. I also concur 105% with the sentiment in the lyrics. I plan to listen to the rest of the album sometime soon. Ran across this: I like it even more! At first I went WHO DARES TO INTERRUPT THE MIGHTY GILMOUR, GO FORTH AND SMITE THEM but then I realised it was Rick and took it back, and then some...

Listening to the title track now. I'm liking it so far. I mean, David Gilmour plays guitar on it -- and sings! What more can I want?

One thing I've discovered, Mad Bugger dear, is that there is always more to hear. Sometimes it is quite overwhelming how much there is to listen to and how little time... Back on topic, the title track is really very gorgeous in this live performance, which is a lovely ten whole minutes long: (and yes, that's our Ricky just behind David in the thumbnail -- it is extremely bittersweet watching footage from around this time; he seems so happy playing with David and the rest of his fabulous band, it's hard to believe he was, and annoyingly remains, gone not long after...)

Listened to it last night; it was absolutely gorgeous. I'm sold!
I love every track... 'Castellorizon/On An Island' are a flawless intro, 'The Blue' is gorgeously abstract and the guitar playing is divine, the instrumentals are lovely... I won't go on, for I would be saying the same thing about every song, but they are all really beautiful.
However, I do feel like 'A Pocketful Of Stones' was just a wee bit out of place on the album... the other songs being concerned primarily with domestic bliss and dreamlike holidays, while that one was oddly dark. It's a very good song, but it left a bitter taste in my mouth.

It's a very good song, but it left a bitter taste in my mouth. I got this album recently, and my dad and I have been listening to it a good bit. He discovered the secret to 'A Pocketful Of Stones': It's about a man who thinks that what he does doesn't matter to anyone else, and what other people do doesn't matter to him, and that he can live in perfect isolation here behind his wall and he'll be okay even though the Earth and everyone else is going to ruin. So, basically, he thinks he's On An Island.
In other words, it fits in with the album perfectly!
Oh, yes, and I'm listening to it right now.
