Point Me At The Sky. I love this one, so much so, I think it's in my top Floyd songs! It also reminds me a little of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds by that other band... 😉

I'm just discovering the Pink Floyd The Early Years series of albums. For some reason, I started with 1970 - Devi/ation and so far I am really in love with the alternate version of If and Fat Old Sun, there is so much emotion in Roger's and David's voices in those recordings, even more than on Atom Mother Heart, in my opinion. This is especially apparent in If: Roger sings in such a fragile and insecure way that I feel the strong desire to hug him and say that everything's going to be alright. On the other hand, 'if I were a rrrrrrrule, I would bend' made me crack up. And the solo in Fat Old Sun is awesome. How could I live without these live recordings so far? Additional to the music, I really like the cover artwork and album titles, too.

Some more from the great The Early Years: The version of Matilda Mother on the Cambridge/station, CD 1. Not only does it have the weirdest and trippiest bass solo in the world in the end, the lyrics are also incredible. I mean, Went tiptoe to the telephone, 999 Summoned the immediate aid Of London's Noble Fire Brigade These lyrics are crazy in a fantastic even to Syd's standards. And I've discovered Vegetable Man, which I absolutely love!

When they first came out on YouTube I went on a crazy Floyd binge and had a major revelation of just how hardcore a Crazy Diamond I am... I felt like I could listen to that stuff for several lifetimes and it wouldn't get old. You really realise your hardcoreness when you find yourself listening to half a dozen slightly different live versions of a song you didn't think you even liked. The 1971 Reverber/ation version of 'Fat Old Sun' has one of the best pieces of instrumental jam I have ever heard. It's ~ foureen glorious minutes long and my favourite Floyd pair Rick and David carry the whole thing. LOVE.
