This is like the 'Song fragments that really grab you' thread on the BB, only for Pink Floyd. Because there are so many times when there's one little guitar hook or drumbeat that you look forward to the whole song.
I will probably use this thread a lot, but for starters, the obvious ones: those four magical notes in 'Shine You Crazy Diamond' and the drumbeat that gets 'Time' going. Also from 'SOYCD', the chuckle in the left channel right after the opening line 'Remember when you were young' and the guitar notes. Also , at the end of 'Money'/beginning of 'Us And Them' you can hear Dave Gilmour whooping along with his guitar leads in the background, underneath the voices (which are deserving of their own thread all together).
Can you tell I've been listening to DSOTM and Wish You Were Here a lot today?

My current status quote: I can't think of anything to say. *several seconds later* I think it's nice. *chuckle* The bit at the end of 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' part 9 which sounds vaguely like 'See Emily Play'. A second or two before the singing begins in 'Echoes' you can hear them open their mouths to sing. I listen for it every time. I'm a nut. :/ The siren sound in 'Bike'... I always think it's a real siren.

Roger's whoop/holler/shriek/what-have-you followed by manic laughter in 'Dogs' (at 2:20) (I think it's Roger, I don't think it would be anyone else) and 'Sheep' (after 'Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream'). They remind me of John Lennon's manic laugh in 'Hey Bulldog'. Also Roger's whoop in 'Pigs' right after the first line. AND because I'm not done yet, oh no: The way Dave's voice dips down for that low note in 'Fearless': '...the hill in my own way'. The part in 'A Pillow Of Winds' where it goes back to the major key after being minor for nearly three minutes. The very end of 'Echoes' where Dave follows Rick around, not literally, but Rick plays a phrase on his keyboards and Dave *echoes* it on his guitar. The tempo change in 'Money'. Rick's higher harmony in 'The Scarecrow'. Another Rickism, the bit at the end of 'See Emily Play' where Syd sings 'Emily' and Rick echoes, higher, 'Emily'. Speaking of 'See Emily Play', a moment in the video always grabs me: where Rick, Roger, and Nick join hands and go round in circles, and Dave-- late-- hastily drops his guitar and runs over to join them. I think that's enough for one night week!

The end of The Wall. I MUST HEAR THE REST OF WHAT ROGER IS SAYING Oh, yes, and I'm pretty sure this is my favourite thread on this nearly-a-laugh-but-really-a-cry forum.

Did everybody catch it? Turn up the volume loads at the beginning. You'll be deafeninged when the guitars kick in but it will be worth it because you will be enlightened.

The way Dave's voice dips down for that low note in 'Fearless': '...the hill in my own way'. AAAAAAAAAAND the slight hoarseness or roughness or whatever you want to call it in his voice during 'as you rise above the fearlines in his brow'. Oh, also, while I'm here, the way he sings 'liiiiight' in 'Hey You'. And the plinketyplinkplink piano bits of 'Flaming' and 'Bike'. It's the little things for us crazy diamonds

Hey You where Dave says "I'm coming home" and then the harder bit kicks in with the Brick in the Wall leitmotif.

That quick little steel guitar thing in Part IX of SOYCD, at about 10:44 gets me every time. Also the bass rumblings in the beginning of Part VII. And the various windy vocal sound effects in 'Pigs' (like after 'And do you feel abused?'). It's really rather creepy but I love CreepyRoger so I think it's gear. And even if I didn't, it would still grab me And the high fretless-bass-noodling in the same song. And the vocal effect on the end of '...shards of broken glasss sssssssss'. And the guitar-y thingy at 4:56 in 'Sheep'. I could list all the times I love Roger's pronunciation of something, but it would be quicker to list all the times I don't love his pronunciation of something. So let me just say I love his pronunciation of everything. Also The Return of the Talkbox in 'Keep Talking'. Hey-- talkbox-- keep talking -- I just got that. Piphny.

'Sheep' in which Roger's voice on "we fell on his neck with a screeeeeeeeeeam" turns into a synth. Obviously, the piggy guitar noises in Pigs (Three Different Ones). As you can see, I am listening to Animals at the moment.

At approximately six minutes and forty-eight seconds into 'Us And Them', Rick's lovely left hand does this magnificent run down on the piano that appears nowhere else in the song, and 'tis absolutely fabulous. I had never noticed this for the longest time, and then I was listening to one night a couple weeks ago, and to say it really grabbed me would be putting it mildly.
